HOLIDAY GREETINGS AND SNEAK PEEK 2023!!
12/12/2022
Greetings! Hoping you are all healthy and enjoying the Holidays . For many of us, it has been an opportunity to connect with friends and family after the past 2 years of Covid. That said, we thought we would give all our many fans a sneak peek at Schroon Lake Live!! 2023 and the 33 rd Annual Folk Festival. We hope many of you had the opportunity to enjoy some of last summer’s concerts, which we felt were the most enjoyable and well attended programs in our history!! The success of those concerts, as well as our unique affiliation with the Schroon Lake Chamber of Commerce, will allow our concerts to be FREE and enjoyed by all! We hope to increase our support from local businesses, sponsors, donations and funding from grants to assure our future.
We are proud to present Schroon Lake Live!! 2023:
Sunday, July 2: 7-9 PM: THE MCKRELLS: Our second annual “Kick off the 4th” weekend concert features this legendary group, which really was among the first to take the traditions of The Clancy Brothers and bring it into the future with innovative, modern music and upstate NY swagger. They have played all over the country and we are honored to have them —- As Kevin sings, let’s all hope that “All of the Hard Days are gone!”
Tuesday, July 11: 7-9 PM: JIM GAUDET AND THE RAILROAD BOYS. After an absence of many years this long-time Adirondack favorite returns with the distinction of winning an “Eddy” award as the North Country’s favorite Bluegrass group. Great singing, musicianship , energy and original songs. BLUEGRASS AND BEYOND!!
Saturday, July 15, 11 AM: THE PUPPET PEOPLE PRESENT “THE WIZARD OF OZ”. A special family and children’s program featuring the life-size puppets of this great group. Known for innovative programming and music, this new production of this family favorite should thrill and entertain children and adults. Bring your kids and grandkids!!
Tuesday, July 18: 7-9 PM: MAZEL TOV COCKTAIL PARTY: Conceived and developed during the pandemic (in nearby Plattsburgh!!), MTCP brings together an amazing all-star group of “world” musicians led by David Krakauer, widely considered one of the greatest clarinetists on the planet. Described as a breath of fresh air, MTCP arrives at Schroon after touring Europe, being featured on NPR, and getting universal accolades. A mash-up of Square Dance-Polka-Hora-Klezmer-electronic Dance music, MTCP is a good vibes explosion that implores you to get up and dance! Don’t miss this wonderful group as they illuminate the world with hope and joy!!
Tuesday, July 25: 7-9 PM: THE HEARD MUSIC COLLECTIVE: Together for more than a decade (and based in the Albany area), THE HEARD is a collective of musicians that bring skills and passion for world music, jazz and improvising together to create irresistible grooves set in a unique sonic tapestry. Their vibrant sound incorporates influences of West Africa, Brazil, the Caribbean and beyond. Come and enjoy these great musicians and dancers on their first visit to Schroon!
Tuesday, August 1: 7-9 PM (IN THE BOATHOUSE THEATRE): CLASSICAL CHAMBER MUSIC!:
Our second annual preview concert of the Lake George Music Festival (which takes place a few weeks later), features renowned violinist Barbora Kolarova and other wonderful chamber artists in a program in our intimate Boathouse. Last year’s concert was Standing Room Only!! Don’t miss this!
Tuesday, August 8: 7-9 PM: SARA MILONOVICH AND DAISY CUTTER: This Hudson Valley based group was perhaps the most impressive and well received at last year’s Folk Fest and now make a return visit for their own 2 hour show. Winner of the 2022 Americana Artist of the year (The Capital district “Eddie” award), Sara is a world class fiddler and singer/songwriter, who surrounds herself with a band of talented, fabulous musicians, and has played with Pete Seeger, Jim Gaudet and was a featured player in the smash Broadway musical “Come From Away”. She loves playing at Schroon and is thrilled to return! Please welcome them back!
